My role for this project is Director of Photography. I will be analysing different styles and techniques used in other documentaries and photojournalism to form enough research to bring a clear, informative, unique yet stylized documentary as the principle cinematographer.

Initial Ideas
Crossdressers The idea of following the life of a crossdresser or observing and analysing the culture is one that I believe would have a wealth of issues, morals and themes to deal with as it deals with emotions, genetics, religion and society.
Phobias If a phobia could be focused on in a documentary it would provide an educational but slightly 'freak show' styled narrative depending on what phobia i being delt with. The idea is too varied and vague at this stage to research unless the group knows of a person with a unique phobia to document.
Assisted Suicide America has the right to kill a person who has committed a crime deemed worthy of death yet there is no system in place to aide someone to death if they are too ill to live a life of quality. Whereas Britain has no right to kill or assist to kill in any circumstance leading a number of people to go to clinics abroad where assisted suicide is legal. There is definitely enough material and story to create a documentary but unfortunately the main issues/stories are abroad and not within Britain. | Abortion How can something legal be so controversial? At what point does life begin? The Pope denies purgatory exists and then retracts the statement...What happens to all the 'souls' that don't get a start in life? A subject that splits opinion due to many variables within society, more recently age is the main issue with abortion on both sides, the age of which a person can have an abortion and the latest stage of which abortion is acceptable.
The Porn Industry A career path looked upon by many as seedy, unfortunate and sinful. How do the 'stars' themselves deal with the preconceived perceptions of themselves and how has/does it affect everyday life?
2012 Year of the Olympics and the end of the world...You have to take the good with the bad I suppose. People are preparing for something to happen to the world in 2012, a documentary into different variations of the beliefs and what people are actually doing to prepare. This could provide a very educational and niche insight into a cultures belief which everyone's knows 'of' but no one actually knows specific details about. |
