The Mayan Calendar Belief The Mayans had a very precise understanding of our solar system's cycles and believed that these cycles coincided with our spiritual and collective consciousness. It is believed that something will happen in 2012 as this is when the Mayan calendar reaches its end and starts a new cycle. No-one is entirely sure what 2012 will bring, some anticipate the possibility of a new spiritual era whilst others believe it will bring with it a huge catastrophe. Though some people say that there are no Mayans left at present, others believe that there are still many communities of them left living in Mexico. The Asteroids Belief
Many people believe that an asteroid is set to hit earth and wipe out the entire human race. recent
data by the Center for Astrophysics at Harvard, suggests
that the Asteroid Toutatis is going to be close enough to Earth to
cause some global catastrophe on December 12, 2012.
There are many different scientific theories to suggest that this catastrophe may or may not occur, but do any really provide any solid proof?
 | Pole Reversal It is thought that on December 21st 2012 the planet will experience a powerful event which will originate from deep within the core of the planet forcing a massive change in the protective magnetic field. Other Theories Tsunamis Many people are under the belief that 2012 will bring with it a massive series of worldwide tsunamis that will result in the wiping out of the human race. No one at present is exactly sure why this may happen though it is thought to be closely linked with the belief of volcano eruptions and earthquakes. Volcanoes and Earthquakes If you live in certain geographical areas such as the north states of the Pacific Ocean volcanoes are thought to be a big threat. If the pile shift of 2012 occurs, massive cataclysms of the earths crust will cause earthquakes, volcano eruptions and worldwide tsunamis. Though no one knows exactly what is going to happen precautitions are already being taken as people flee to what they believe to be the only 'safe' places in the world |  |
