Week One
Introduction to module – Assessment guides/PowerPoint and brief look at last years work
Formed groups, all members of the group signed the assessment summary.
Given instructions as to what is required of us over the course of the module
- Group website/workbook to be created on ‘Yola’ with each group member creating an individual tab
- Individual tab to include a photo essay (approximately 10 photos), analysis on specific styles of documentary, a weekly breakdown of lecture notes and reviews of documentaries significant to your own research.
Week Two
Photojournalism and Documentary
Look at guides to practitioners and photojournalism representation in film.
- Modes of photography
- A look at different genres
- A breakdown of the Yin yang theory
Week Three
Introduction to 40D Canon Cameras
Taught how to change the different settings
- Shutter speed
- Depths of field
- Lighting

Week Four
NO LECTURE
Instead this time was spent working as a group on our individual tabs and the main layout of the website.
Also booked out a 40D canon camera to practise different shots and settings in different locations
Week Five
Advanced Photoshop workshop using student images
- Understanding RAW processing
- Advanced editing of raw images
Week Six
Advanced Camera Training
- Sony PD170 camera recap training
- Short filming exercise to familiarise ourselves with using the cameras
