2012 Research: No one knows what will happen in 2012. There are many theories and speculations about the world ending. We decided to do this as a documentary as we felt it would be an interesting one to do, one that has not been done before. There were conspiracy's and fears back in 2000 or the Y2K as it was called, and nothing happened there to hurt humanity. I strongly believe that all of this 2012 talk is just rumours and speculations with no real facts to back it up. Below is further research into the some of the different theories surrounding 2012. |
Mayan Calendar:
One theory based upon the 2012 speculation is that the Mayan calendar happens to end on December, 21, 2012 after which a new calendar will start. This just so happens to be the Mayan's 13th calendar. There is yet to be scientific proof to say that the end of the world will be at the end of the calendar. It is however expected to be a galactic alignment where the sun will align itself with the centre of the milky way, which some scientist's believe will result in natural disaster's although nothing which threatens the whole of the planet. When the new calendar starts up again, it could result in development of society and people. This is based on the fact that the when the last calendar started, people began writing and cities started to appear.
Galactic Superwave:
This theory is also applied to the Mayan Calendar as they do warn us about the the sun aligning itself with the centre of the milky way. It is predicted that this could have a negative reaction to us and our planet. It is predicted that when the sun does align itself with the centre of the milky way that there will be these superwaves which are famous for ending ice ages within this planet. A concern of scientist's is that these superwaves have the ability to destroy our ozone later which will make use vulnerable to ultra violet radiation which if we take in too make has serious health concerns. It is hard to determine the effect that this could have as this type of castrophe has not occured in modern times.
Super Volcano:
This theory is based upon past facts. A super volcano erupted about 70, 000 years ago which lead to the extinction of species and a reduced human race. With the changes expected in 2012, this volcano (Yellowstone Super Volcano) going off is definately one of them, leading to catastrophic results. It is a volcano that is very much overdue for eruption and with all the speculations about 2012, this is one of them. One which surely would have the biggest negative impact on this planet. It is said that when (and if) this happens the safest place may be Africa as it was the last place that humans took refuge from this volcano and they survived. Again this is just speculation and most scientist's don't believe this volcano will go off anytime soon, although some do believe it could be as soon as 2012.
Nostradamus:
Nostradamus made predictions, some were right, some were wrong. He says that a comets will strike the earth, the sun's heat will rise and gravity will act in unexplained ways. Some may believe this because it could be said he predicted the 9-11 attacks. He predicted that, Earth-shaking fire from the centre of the earth, will cause the towers around the New York City to shake, two great rocks for a long time will make war, and then a ship will colour a new river red. Some believe that he predicted this correctly and that his last prediction for 1999 was an anagram for this. 9-11-1 is the exact date of the 9-11 tragedy. Some people believe that his next prediction will have a bigger impact and this will happen in 2012, with the help of the galactic alignment.
At the end of the day all of these theories are just speculations, rumours, and predictions that can't be backed up with any solid scientific fact. All of this could come true, or none of them, or even just little bits of each could happen. We do not know and it is just a matter of waiting to find out. Although some people have already started taken precautions. In 'Jess Ventura Conspiracy Theory - 2012' a short documentary about USA and 2012, it mentions that some people have bomb bunkers which could be used to save people from natural disasters of what could happen in 2012.
