There are many different theories that people believe will happen in the year 2012 and that the world is going to end. However, there have been theories before about the millennium bug in 2000 that was suppose to crash all the computers. I do believe that all the rumours about 2012 are just a hype and nothing will probably happen. We thought by doing a documentary about the different theories about 2012 would be a good idea as we can get different people's ideas and opinions, plus, it has not been done before as it has not happened yet. Below is further research that I have done surrounding the different theories of the year 2012.
The Mayan Calendar:
One theory is the world will end on the 21st December 2012 as this is when the Mayan Calendar finishes. However, when this Mayan Calendar ends another one will start, but what people are worried about is what the new calendar will mean for humanity. People believe that the world will end due to natural causes such as volcanoes and earthquakes will repeatedly erupt. Some people think that when the new calendar starts, it is a chance to have a new, fresh society as the mayan calendar suggests that instead of concentrating on the end of the world, concentrate more on the beginning of the new world. Other views also include that due to the Mayan Calendar being religious to the Maya civilization, which suggests that Decemeber 21st 2012 could be like 'judgement day' where religious people like the Maya community believe that the Bible prophecy could be fulfiled on this day.

An Asteroid or Meteor will hit Earth:
Another theory is that Earth will be hit by a meteor or asteroid due to the Bible codes, which are basically predictions that might occur in the near future. However, NASA has been keeping an eye on asteroids heading towards Earth and believe we will not get hit by an asteroid any time soon. But that does not have to mean that Earth will not be hit by an asteroid or a meteor, as apparently the British Government have a small amount of employees looking at asteroids and meteors heading towards Earth. On the other hand, Earth has in the past been hit by meteor or asteroids but they have mainly by in uncivilised areas but some have caused a big crack within the Earth's surface.

Volcanoes and Earthquakes:
The volcanoe and earthquake theory could possible mean that in the year of 2012 there might be an eruption of a 'supervolcanoe' which could wipe out countries or at least make a good attempt at it. This theory could possible happen as in the past there have been big eruptions from a volcanoe, for example the eruption of Mount Tambora in 1815 where the eruption caused an estimate of 36 cubic miles of ash and pumice as well as rising 30 miles into the stratosphere; which resulted in America and Europe's atomosphere being covered by the clouds caused by the volcanoe. Another example is the earthquake in Haiti which wiped out the majority of the Haiti people. There is one particular volcanoe that people are worried about, it is called Yellowstone, which has the potential to be a 'supervolcanoe' as if Yellowstone does erput it could act just like what Toba Super volcanoe did about some 70,000 years ago; it throwed planet Earth into an ice-age which lasted about 60,000 years and destroyed between 98% to 99% of the world's population. An eruption of volcanoes and earthquakes have been mention in the bible when Jesus is ment to back to Earth.

Galactic Superwave:
A galactic superwave is where the sun could align with the centre of the milky way. A galactic superwave has been warned by scienceists as well as by the Maya civilization. Accoding to scienceists, our sun solar activity is set to peak in 2012, which is also when scienceists are expecting extreme solar storms to occur if we have an extreme solar storms as well as a galactis superwave the end result could be devastation. In addition to this, a glalctic superwave could destroy an ice age (as it apparently did before) , it could also destroy Earth's ozone layer. This would completely ruin any chance of the human race suriving as the ozone layer protects Earth from ultra voilent raditation.

Although, all of these theories are rummours and none of them could actually come true and when Decemeber the 21st of 2012 comes around nothing could in fact happen. However, there are people are not taking that chance and there have been blog sites have been set-up for people to are preparing for all of the above theories and more theories that could happen in 2012.
